Home Sweet Home Alone marks the fourth Home Alone movie to be made without Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern and director Chris Columbus . This time, Borat writer Dan Mazer has helmed the project from a script by Saturday Night Live writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell. It stars Jojo Rabbit’s breakout kid, Archie Yates, as Max Mercer, who, you guessed it, gets left home alone during the holiday season. The clear lack of originality in the new film earns it some coal in its stocking as it rehashes most of the contents of the original, but there’s a number of redeeming qualities as well that make it watchable anyway. There’s no doubt reboots are on the up and up, and Disney knows this better than anyone.

Principal photography began in February 2020, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In March, filming was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and industry restrictions worldwide. In November 2020, Disney announced that all its films that had been postponed by the coronavirus had resumed filming, and in some cases completed principal photography. In December 2019, Archie Yates, Rob Delaney, and Ellie Kemper were announced as the co-stars of the film.

However, all of them seem to still be in early talks, so truly nothing is really off the table. Want to bookmark your favourite articles and stories to read or reference later? This is the Disney film that comes closest to a David Lynch fever dream. Another magnificent adaptation of complex source material, Disney’s take on Alice in Wonderland doesn’t get lost in Lewis Caroll’s maze of wordplay, but cooks up its own delightful nonsense. Alice gets read to filth by a patch of garden flowers, Ed Wynn’s Mad Hatter oozes moneyed eccentricity, and there is a general psychedelic vibe to the whole affair. Alice in Wonderland was initially a flop, but there’s no denying its status as a cult classic now.

By November 2020, filming on all the movies that had been postponed by the coronavirus had resumed filming, and in some cases completed principal photography. There’s no way that Sweet Home matches the unique appeal of the original – we can assume that studio executives know this full well. If you shoot for greatness and fall short, you can still be left with something pretty damn good. If you aim simply for adequacy, then missing the target leaves you with Home Sweet Home Alone. "Including four which have generated more than a billion dollars in global box office." On August 6, 2019, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that a new film in the Home Alone franchise, titled simply Home Alone, was in development.
Augustine Frizzell was hired to serve as director, with a script written by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider based on the story concept by Fox Executive, Matt Reilly. The project was to be a joint-venture production under Reynolds' Fox-based Maximum Effort Productions, while George Dewey serving as an executive producer. The premise of the proposed project was stated as 'reminiscent of the hallowed comedy classic'. The plot centers on a weed-growing 'loser' who misses his plane for a holiday skiing trip. He decides to get high, and as the paranoia side-effects set in, he believes he hears a break-in. As he discovers thieves have broken into his home, fully stoned and fueled by the weed, he tries to 'defend his castle'.
Home Alone and Night at the Museum remakes coming from Disney
Although Cinderella is a central member of the Disney princesses, her film hasn’t aged quite as well as the rest of the early Disney films. There’s an odd amount of time spent on Lucifer the cat, and relatively little time spent at Cinderella’s magical soiree. Of the Disney Renaissance offerings, Pocahontas stumbles in its messy handling of history, since turning any interaction between white colonisers and indigenous people into a fluffy romance arguably whitewashes the brutal reality of what happened. But there are plenty of positives to be found, since Pocahontas was such a huge influence in Disney’s later portrayals of strong, independently minded women. The Disney+ reboot will star Rob Delaney, Ellie Kemper and Archie Yates, who starred inJojo Rabbit, taking over the role originally played by Macaulay Culkin. Bushwhacked is a 1995 film starring Daniel Stern that was originally conceived as a spin-off film to the Home Alone franchise.
Home Sweet Home Alone attempts to balance the old with the new, but overall, it’s a very similar experience to the original film. There’s nothing about it that makes it more worthwhile than the 1990 original except for the fact that it’s a new Home Alone movie with some new jokes and traps. The production is thought out and its 94 minute is zippy enough to hold an audience, but, again, it’s also just another remake no one really asked for but exists anyway. If you’re a little bored of the original Home Alone this year, there's enough to it to have fun with it, with Archie Yates being a super cute and talented young star who can step to Kevin McCallister's plate. The pair’s backstory and reasoning to invade Max’s home is well-developed and palpable. They are way more three-dimensional than Pesci and Stern’s characters.
Disney+ has announced that the “Home Alone” franchise is adding a sixth film, titled “Home Sweet Home Alone,” just in time for the holiday season. "No, nobody got in touch with me about it, and it's a waste of time as far as I'm concerned," Columbus said to Insider. Disney has announced it's going to remake Home Alone for its new streaming service.

One of Disney’s boldest and most avant garde films, Fantasia is simply masterful in its concept. A musical education for many young viewers, the film pairs classical pieces with short animated stories, each wildly different and inventive in its own right. The fourth installment was directed by Rod Daniel and premiered as a television film on ABC on November 3, 2002. This film returns to the original's main character, Kevin , and one of the two Wet/Sticky Bandits, Marv . Aladdin may have plenty of tricks up its sleeve, but it deserves its place in the upper echelons of Disney films purely on the strength of Robin Williams’s performance as Genie. The comedy actor recorded over 18 hours of additional improvised material for the film, and the finished product is one of the greatest existing tributes to his manic energy as a performer, alongside his vast gallery of impressions. Let them deny it all they want, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a Nineties kid who hasn’t secretly put “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” on their workout playlist. The whole film, in fact, is a power anthem, while Mulan’s one-woman feminist revolution makes her one of those rare multitasking princesses who can do a lot more than just win over a handsome prince.
